Paul began studying piano at age six under the instruction of the late Bonnie Balas. He graduated with honors from Columbia High School in June 2010, and then entered the Piano Performance B.M. program at Mason Gross School of the Arts of Rutgers University in New Brunswick.
Under the tutelage of Professor Paul Hoffmann, Paul explored his talents as a soloist and accompanist, collaborating on both graduate and undergraduate degree recitals throughout his four years of education. He sang with the Kirkpatrick Choir and Rutgers University Glee Club under the direction of Dr. Patrick Gardner.
For two consecutive summers Paul was selected as Accompanying Apprentice at the Berkshire Choral Festival, where he sang and played under such conductors as Craig Hella Johnson, David Hayes, Jerry Blackstone, and Frank Nemhauser. He served as BCI's faculty pianist at Sonoma State University in 2016, rehearsing and singing Handel's oratorio Israel in Egypt. In the summer of 2014, Paul joined the pianist staff at the Cecchetti Council of America's International Summer School at Hope College, Michigan.
Paul is the recipient of many honorable collegiate awards and scholarships, including the 2012 NJ State Governor’s Scholarship, the Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award, and the Rutgers University Glee Club Aspinall Award.
Paul is currently living in North Brunswick and pursuing his M.M. in Collaborative Piano with Professor Barbara Gonzalez-Palmer. He is a staff pianist for the Mason Gross music and dance departments, as well as the Mason Gross Extension Division. Paul is accompanist of the Rutgers Univesity Glee Club and the Highland Park Community Chorus. He also serves as organist and pianist at Middlebush Reformed Church in Franklin, NJ.
Paul's interests beyond the realm of music include
running, swimming, board games, and juggling.
